Since the fall of the month, when I started writing this blog; I have had ample of requests from my fellow readers who want to know protein rich diet for vegetarians. I know since the turn of the vegan movement, there’s huge demand for protein rich veggies which was previously not looked upon much and also accept the fact that even though these would not ease the protein deficiency which non-vegetarian food do, but still it will atleast make it up of the daily need.
Below I have listed down 10 protein rich foods for vegetarians to ease out their protein deficiency gap-
LENTILS OR MASOOR
Lentils are low in calories, contain huge amount of fiber and large amounts of protein. They are also proven to decrease cholesterol levels and heart disease risks.
Black Beans have a high content of fiber along with proteins and also additionally contain other micronutrients such as folate, potassium, vitamin B6 and several types of phytonutrients.
PEANUTS AND PEANUT BUTTER
Peanuts form an excellent snack and peanut butter with breads are perfect food which have huge amount of proteins which help decrease one’s appetite thus also contributing to weight loss.
CHICKPEAS OR CHOLA
Chickpeas contain both fiber and protein making it an ideal blend for a healthy and delicious meal.
Not only are almonds filled with proteins but also have high amounts of vitamin E and Magnesium.
Steel cut oats are a rich source of protein which have a lot smaller glycemic index which prevents big blood sugar spikes.
Spinach is rich in protein as also it is a green vegetable, thus should definitely be consumed.
Avocados offer great amount of monounsaturated fatty acids and also small amount of protein and are equally delecious.
