5 Best Sources of Proteins

I have had plenty of requests from my readers, who wanted to know what are the best sources of proteins for a non-vegetarian. Even though I had earlier written some articles where I talked about top vegan proteins and also about cheap protein resources; Now after a lot of requests decided to go about with top protein sources for a natural body-builder and these include vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian protein source.

1. Eggs

Eggs are loaded with high-quality protein and our pretty cheap. One egg contains 6 grams of protein (11% of the daily value). With the composition of vital amino acids, branched chain amino acids and glutamic acid, egg makes the ultimate source for protein and also for helping one’s muscles to recover after a workout.

2. Canned tuna

Tuna is the best source of canned food that is rich in proteins. A single, 130gms can of tuna yields almost 30 grams of protein. According to the US Food and Drug Administration, though tuna contains mercury which can be harmful for health in abundance, still one can safely eat 155gms of Albacore tuna per week and 470 gms of light tuna.

3. Peanut butter

Though peanut butter amounts to much proteins and is filling and cheap but it also contains good amount of fat. Although, it may not match the amount of protein of a chicken breast or a turkey, but with eight grams of protein per serving, peanut butter provides as mentioned earlier an economical way for those on a cheap and tight budget to get their fill.

4. Skinless Chicken or Turkey

Although white meats are the slimmest and most preffered choice, but even dark meat can be a good choice if you skip the skin. Both chicken and turkey give us about 25 grams of high-quality protein, along with B vitamins and selenium.

5. Beans & Lentils

These vegetarian proteins are super-healthy and a bodybuilder should eat them frequently. Not only do they give you protein which is about 9 grams per half cup, but they are also filled with heavy fibre, heart-healthy folate and energy-creating iron. Further, these also help in increasing body power if had daily.
